Leadership Team
President: Sophie O'Keefe
PhD Candidate in Cancer Biology | M.S. in Biological and Physical Science
Sophie's research focuses on cancer biology and immunology, with an emphasis on identifying novel approaches to improve drug efficacy for breast cancer patients. She brings extensive experience in project management, interdisciplinary collaboration, hypothesis-driven research design, and scientific communication
Beyond the bench, Sophie is deeply committed to mentorship and education, mentoring and teach both graduate and undergraduate students. She leverages this diverse skill set to connect graduate students across the university with the world of consulting and careers beyond academia.
Vice President: Chloe Renken
PhD Student in Pharmacology
Chloe is pursuing a PhD in Pharmacology, studying the intersection of autoimmunity and iron metabolism with a research focus on developing a novel nanobody therapeutic for the treatment of lupus. Chloe is passionate about scientific communication and therapeutic discovery and design. She joined GCC to help scientists and other technical experts build business acumen and translate their specialized knowledge into the skills needed to thrive in industry.
Head of Communications: Jackie Edmonds
PhD Student in Experimental Pathology
Jackie is a Ph.D. student in Experimental Pathology aiming to improve immunotherapy outcomes for breast cancer patients by exploiting tumor cell metabolism and interactions between immune cells and tumor cells. She has several years of research experience spanning academia and the nonprofit sector, where she has developed strengths in interdisciplinary collaboration, project coordination, and scientific communication. Jackie is excited to use her diverse experiences and skillset to help create opportunities for graduate students to connect, collaborate, and develop professionally.
